4.4 Android (KitKat) Is Only Present in 2.5% of Devices

We already have the updated data of the current distribution of Android updates. Google has just released new statistics which were made with the data collected during the last seven days, ending yesterday, 3 March.

We do not find new. Turns to follow the trend of the past few months. Again the unique versions that gain market share are the most recent three, i.e. Android 4.2 and 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and Android 4.4 (KitKat).

The 62% of Android devices are any versions of Jelly Bean. Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) has 35.3% (35.5% last month), Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) 17.1% (16.3% before) and Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) 9.6% (8.9%).

Android 4.4 (KitKat) in these four months only has managed to reach 2.5% of devices. You still have very slow growth, very few devices being updated but surely thanks to the sale of new devices and more updates in a few months their growth to trip.

In older versions, we see that Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now 15.2% of devices, Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) remains at 0.1%, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in 19% and Android 2.2 (Froyo) becomes 1.2%.

In order, we see that the most used version is Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) followed by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), Android (KitKat) 4.4, Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Android 3.1 (Honeycomb).
