The time may be a time of crisis, but even so people are not switching from smartphones to newer models, many of them equipped with 4G technology. Proof of this is that, according to a report made by the Brazilian Telecommunications Association (Telebrasil), the number of connections to the fourth generation networks here in Brazil in the last two months registered the incredible growth of 120%, which corresponds to 67 million Accesses.
With this excellent result, the 4G here in the country was able to surpass in five times the goal stipulated in the federal government announcements, not only in number of accesses, but also of covered cities, being present in 1,691 municipalities of the ‘only’ 288 obligatory. And with the shutdown of the analog TV signal gradually happening across the country, the trend is that such numbers will only grow.
As much as 4G continues to expand rapidly, just like its previous generation 3G speed, it is still the type of mobile network with the largest usage and penetration in the country, present in 4,994 cities, which corresponds to 98% of the National territory, also surpassing the target set by the public announcements of 3,668 municipalities.
In addition to the fixed and mobile broadband data, the total number of accesses was 223.3 million accesses, of which 26.9 million corresponded to fixed internet, which grew 5% compared to the same period last year, With 1.3 million new accesses.
It is noteworthy that the mobile internet in general, that is, also considering the 3G accesses, closed the month of February with 196.4 million users.
