The high peaks of the Rocky Mountains, extensive national parks,
fish-rich waters and the vast plains of the Great Plains shape
the landscape of the fourth largest US state of Montana. The
presence of numerous mineral resources such as oil, gold and

ghost towns of Nevada City and Virginia City testify to the era
of the gold rush and the first European settlers. There are
seven Indian Reservations on the Montana territory, including
the Fort Peck Indian Reservation of the Dakota Indians. The
Sioux have their retreat in the Great Plains plains. The most
important memorial, The Little Bighorn Battlefield National
Monument commemorates the US cavalry's struggle against the
Indian tribes. The Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site
takes visitors back in time to the big cattle farms in the Wild
West. The exciting rodeos and Indian Pow-Wows, which take place
from May to October, also give an impression of the culture of
