No matter what type of guy you are, you will surely find the right one here.

Tenerife hotels

You will find hotels in Tenerife in the north as well as in the south of the island. First of all, decide whether you want to travel to the quiet and green north or to the more touristy south , which boasts numerous hotels , some even near the beach. You will find the larger selection of hotels in the south, but you can also vacation in some larger hotel complexes in the north. The place Puerto de la Cruz is recommended here. If you are traveling with children, it makes sense to book a family hotel on Tenerife , which offers a great pool area, child-friendly food and maybe even animation. Car rental in Tenerife

The Canary Island of Tenerife is so varied that you can experience something new here every day. The best thing to do is to book a rental car on Tenerife for your discovery tour, in order to be as flexible as possible. On the 83 kilometers long and up to 54 kilometers wide island you can head for some highlights. Lively cities like Santa Cruz de Tenerife , the island’s capital, and beaches, which are still real insider tips, are so close together that you can easily plan your day trips. To get an impression of the island beforehand, you should take a look at the following video, which I brought with me from my last trip.

Activities and excursions in Tenerife

Would you like to be active on your Tenerife vacation and experience as much as possible on the water, on land and in the air? No problem – the Canary Island is the ideal place for all active vacationers. Water sports enthusiasts can plunge into the waves in the surfing paradise El Medano while kite- or windsurfing or explore the underwater world off Tenerife. Under the surface of the water there are various types of fish, marine mammals and corals, so that you can enjoy a fascinating play of colors. Both when diving and snorkeling you can immerse yourself in the magical world. A highlight that you shouldn’t miss out on during your Tenerife vacation is a Deflin and Whale Watching boat tour. The volcanic island is considered to be one of the best whale watching locations in the world. Whale watching is possible all year round as the waters around the island are home to countless species of fish and whale. Most tours start in the south of the island, for example from the port of Los Gigantes via Playa de las Americas to Costa Adeje. The tour usually lasts two hours and you have the opportunity to see pilot whales, dolphins and other impressive animals.

If you feel more comfortable on land, you can discover Tenerife’s different landscapes while hiking , cycling or quad . The highlight for all hikers is the Teide National Park with its impressive volcanic landscape. In addition, you have the opportunity to pursue various hobbies such as tennis, golf and horse riding.

I’ve picked out some worthwhile excursions on Tenerife that you can book in advance.

Canarian cuisine

Canarian cuisine

It is impossible to spend a holiday in Tenerife without having at least once enjoyed the typical Canarian cuisine. Thanks to the Spanish, Portuguese, South American and African influences, the food on Tenerife is particularly diverse. Ingredients like potatoes, chickpeas, vegetables, pork and rabbit are standard here. Of course, on an island in the middle of the Atlantic, it is also a must to eat freshly caught fish and delicious seafood.

We got the insider tip from a local that the restaurant El Calederito de la Abuela in Santa Ursula, in the north of the island, built into the cliff, is particularly good. Here you can not only enjoy the best tapas on the island, but also the most beautiful sunset.

Here you will find a small list of typical dishes that you can try on your Tenerife vacation:

  • Papas arrugadas con mojo : wrinkled potatoes boiled in salted water with a spicy mojo (a sauce made from vinegar, oil and garlic)
  • Bocinegro à la plancha : Canarian fish that is extremely firm to the bite, fried in oil and refined with a mojo
  • Cocido or Puchero Canario : Canarian stew with chickpeas, corn, beans, cabbage, carrots, pumpkin, potatoes, beef, bacon and sausage
  • Carne fiesta : pieces of pork pickled in garlic, salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, paprika, vinegar and white wine; fries are served as a side dish
  • Sancocho canario : dish made from sweet potatoes, potatoes and fish, which is often served with mojo
  • Gofio: Canarian, fine flour is one of the staple foods, it is served mixed with water and oil as a porridge, processed into dumplings or as a dessert
