The first four nights you stay in a centrally located hostel in Sydney. The rest of the trip goes exactly where you want. You have a bus pass that runs from Sydney to Cairns and you decide the pace yourself. Just add stops and spend as much time as you want.

After arriving in Sydney, head to your hostel in the city center.
Day 3–5: Sydney
You have the next few days to explore the amazing city of Sydney. You can rent a bike, walk or take the local bus to Sydney’s many attractions and cozy suburbs.
Day 6– ?: Sydney – Cairns
Today you can start your adventure along the east coast or extend your stay in Sydney. You decide for yourself.
Day ?: Departure from Cairns
Your bus card and visa are valid for up to 90 days. You can choose to fly directly to Sweden or make a stop in Asia. Your ticket is valid for up to twelve months, so there is plenty of time to explore Asia.

Australia is the world’s sixth largest country and even though it is a western country, it is very different from Sweden. In addition to the beautiful and unspoiled nature, you will also find a completely unique wildlife. If you go during the Swedish summer, there are plenty of opportunities to see kangaroos, saltwater crocodiles and humpback whales. Northern Australia is actually the best place to visit during our summer season. The roads are passable, and the days are nice and dry.
Do you want to gain insight into a completely different world? Aboriginal culture is considered by many to be the world’s oldest cultural history. The area around Kakadu National Park is considered one of the best places in all of Australia to see Aboriginal cave paintings.
From Australia’s northernmost city Darwin, the journey goes to Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. The landscape here is like taken from the movie Crocodile Dundee. In water holes and rivers, the crocodiles lie in wait, the large wetlands attract a rich bird life and the nights are spent in tents on campsites in the middle of the bush. Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land are rich in Aboriginal culture and you will hear strange stories from your local guide during the excursions.
From Darwin and Kakadu, the journey continues to the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. Here you stay four nights in the cozy town of Caloundra. After the Sunshine Coast, you fly to the tropical north of Queensland. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site awaits here; Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation. The area here is completely unique, as it is one of the few places in the world where the rainforest reaches all the way to the sea. You stay three nights in Cape Tribulation and can explore the beautiful beaches and rainforest in your own rental car. Of course, you must also explore the world’s largest coral reef; Great Barrier Reef during a day trip from Cairns. The trip is a small sailboat and all snorkeling equipment is included.
