The history of Medina dates back to 1822 when it was first settled by settlers from Virginia and North Carolina. In 1823, John Henry Dyer established a post office and named the town after his hometown of Medina, Ohio. The town was officially incorporated in 1837 and has since grown into a small but vibrant community.

Politically, Medina is governed by a mayor-council form of government with an elected mayor and five council members who serve two-year terms. The economy consists mainly of small businesses such as restaurants, shops, and services that cater to both locals and visitors alike.
