The history of Queen City dates back to 1845 when it was founded by settlers from Alabama who chose the city’s location due to its proximity to a natural ford across the Red River. The town quickly grew as an agricultural center and became known for its cotton production. In 1876, Queen City was officially incorporated as a city and began to experience rapid growth due to its strategic location on several railway lines.

Today, Queen City has a mayor-council form of government with seven council members elected from each ward in the city limits. The economy is largely based on agriculture, forestry, and oil production but there are also many small businesses that are thriving in this area.
