Temperatures during the day typically range from 18-25°C (64-77°F) while nighttime temperatures drop to around 12-14°C (54-57°F). While there is still some sunshine in September, it tends to be accompanied by more frequent rainfall. October marks the beginning of autumn in Albania with cooler temperatures and more frequent rainfall. During this month, temperatures range from 8-18°C (46-64°F) during the day, and 4-10°C (39-50°F) at night. Rainfall is also more common during this time, especially towards the end of October when storms may occur. Albania has two climate zones. The coastal plain has a Mediterranean climate. The summers are hot there, the winters mild and rainy. The mountainous east is rough and inaccessible. There is a continental climate with harsh winters and lots of snow. It can get very cold, especially in the north. The summers are warm with occasional heavy downpours. Tourism has not really discovered Albania yet. It is mainly limited to the cities.
