Chad is located in Central Africa and north of the equator. Southern Chad has a subtropical climate. It’s hot. The temperatures are between 30 and 40°C. The cooler rainy period in the southern savannah area runs from May to October. Towards the north it gets warmer and drier. The country turns into steppes, desert steppes (Sahel) to end in the desert (Sahara). Rain falls there sporadically and only in the months of July and August.
