French Polynesia is located far into the Pacific Ocean. The sea has a moderating influence on the temperature. In the summer, December to April, the daytime temperature is 28°C. In winter the mercury drops to about 22 degrees. It is less warm than on archipelagos that are located more towards Australia and camp at the same latitude. Rain falls all year round: more than 100 millimeters every month. The wettest months are November and December.
