In the hilly north the summers are wet and with 22°C it is quite cool. In winter the mercury is a few degrees above zero. Behind the Jura it is drier and warmer. In Geneva it is 25°C in summer. Most precipitation falls on the north and west sides of the Alps, in the winter in the form of snow. Ski slopes abound in this area.
