Vanuatu, which the somewhat older among us still know as the New Hebrides, is an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean that consists of approximately 80 islands. The north has a tropical climate with temperatures rising to 30°C every day. The south has more temperature fluctuations: between May and September it is slightly less hot and drier. Most precipitation falls from January to March. Vanuatu is hit by a cyclone 2.5 times a year, from December to March. This makes it the most cyclone-prone area in the Pacific.
