Walnut creek
Walnut Creek. (pronunciation: hualnat crik) (Arroyo de la Nuez) is a suburban community founded in 1849
Location
Located several kilometers from the city of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, United States. It lies in the East Bay region and serves as a business and entertainment hub for central Contra Costa County with its larger neighbor Concord.
In the 2010 census it had 64,173 residents and was incorporated as a city on October 21, 1914. The mayor is Cindy Silva. His nickname is “The Creek” (The Stream). It has a station on the BART subway system.

Walnut Creek residents attend schools in 5 school districts: Walnut Creek (K-8), Acalanes Union High School (9-12), Lafayette (K-8), San Ramon Valley Unified (K-12), and Mt. Diablo Unified (K-12). However, neither the San Ramon Valley Unified District nor the Lafayette District schools are within the city limits. Students from the Walnut Creek district automatically transfer to the Acalanes district when they begin their 9th grade.
